The most versatile player on the work site
HMC STR20 Solar Pile Driving Rig
Hercules Machinery Corporation (HMC) developed the HMC STR20 to take on the unique challenges, including low site clearances and narrow corridors associated with solar pile-driving projects.
The STR20 also offers the ability to change heads, giving a greater level of versatility when compared to similar rigs like the Vermeer PD-10, making the STR20 one of the most popular pile drivers on the market.
Additional features and options include:
- Three Quick Change Attachments
- Vibratory, Impact, Auger
- 360 Degree Rotation
- Sitech GPS System for Precise Pile Placement
- Auto Plumb and Level
- Helical Pile Capabilities
- 10′ Transport Height
- Fit Two Units Per Trailer
Sitech connects the office to the field and helps empower the STR20 with advanced technology. Sitech GPS enables precise pile placement that allows operators to easily upload predetermined engineering specifications, which reduces surveying time and ensures piles are driven at the correct location, depth, and angle. Remote control allows operators to prep the next pile while driving the previous one, increasing efficiency and reducing cost.

Be the most versatile player on the worksite with the STR20. While other machines in its class can perform only one function without the ability to switch tools, the STR20 tops them all by easily converting from the Impact driver to the Vibro driver to the drill tool when installing small piles for solar or other applications.
This rugged design, paired with a thoughtful design and advanced technology, gives operators access to a piece of equipment that allows them to focus on getting the job done without worrying about their pile driver’s performance or operation.
The compact design makes the STR20 ideal when compared to other rigs designed to handle the unique site conditions associated with solar array installation, like the Vermeer PD-10. The STR20 also features auto plumb and auto level technology which helps save crews time in the field as they complete a solar piling project.
One of the main advantages of the HMC STR20 is its unique ability to change attachments providing three distinct performances quickly. According to the manufacturer, these include an auger, vibro, and impact hammer capabilities and can be converted in about ten minutes.
This capability allows operators to work across various soil conditions without changing their equipment, saving time and increasing efficiency.
If a professional boring and soil analysis has not been performed, the STR20 is also attractive because the quick attachment changes are designed to handle every soil condition, and crews can handle these with ease in situ.
